Dr. Suresh K. Malhotra, is presently working as Assistant Director General (Horticulture) with ICAR, New Delhi.  Holding the additional charge of Horticulture Commissioner, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, New Delhi. He had his post graduation in horticulture from GBPUA&T, Pantnagar and Ph. D. from CCS, Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar in India. He started his career as Assistant Professor (Vegetable Crops) from HP Agricultural University, Palampur and joined ICAR as Senior Scientist (Horticulture) at newly established National Research Centre on Seed Spices, Ajmer, Rajasthan at that time (2000) and became Principal Scientist in the year 2007.

His research contributions to the horticulture science are development of 12 high yielding varieties of seed spice crops such as coriander, fenugreek, ajowan, dill and fennel. Majority of his research dealt with development of drought tolerant varieties of ajowan (NRCSS AA2) and dill (NRCSS AD 2).

Currently he is contributing for research monitoring, evaluation and planning in general for horticulture and has been involved as Member in developing recommendations under two sub-groups of horticulture and plantation crops of XII Plan Working Groups of horticulture constituted by Planning Commission, Government of India.

He has published over 68 research papers, 32 farm articles, 35 book chapters (10 in international books), three books and 14 manuals/bulletins to his credit. He has outstandingly contributed in research and development of spices which has earned him with PNASF, Young Scientist Gold Medal Award-2005 and HS Mehta, award-2011; Best Paper Award in World Aqua Congress-2009 and elected fellow of 4 professional societies. He is also the Vice President of two professional societies, Indian Society for Spices and Indian Society for Seed Spices.
